Daryl Brook, Educational Success Partner
Daryl joined the Greenfield team after having been a teacher and school principal for over 20 years in both California and Canada. For the entirety of his career, Daryl has been committed to equity and social justice education. This commitment informs his support of schools with the design and implementation of comprehensive literacy programs, especially for readers in the upper elementary and secondary grades. He lives in the Echo Park hills of Los Angeles and supports schools in Southern California and across Canada.
Daryl began his career in the elementary grades, gaining expertise in foundational literacy instruction while teaching grades one through three. Moving to upper elementary and middle school, he earned a Specialist Accreditation in Adolescent Literacy from York University and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, in Toronto, Canada. He served as a Literacy and Numeracy lead teacher to the Ontario Focussed Intervention Program, as well as Adjunct Professor for York University’s Inner-city Education Programme.
Moving to Los Angeles, Daryl led schools in the implementation of best practices to meet the demands of the Common Core State Standards English Language Arts standards. After 7 years as a teacher leader, he completed his administrative credential at UCLA’s Principal Leadership Institute with a fieldwork inquiry into inequitable school assessment practices. As principal, he sought to improve his school’s culture of care through fairer assessment practices and better systems of support. A major component of this project was the redesign of the school’s intervention programming. His time as principal affirmed his core belief in the capacity of teachers, and helped him establish a career goal of becoming an exceptional coach of assessment, planning, and instruction.
Daryl is also the father of two young readers, Desmond and Sadie who, together with his wife, love adventures in the great outdoors. When not working you can always find him and his family hiking, camping, or perhaps back up in Canada enjoying “the great white north.” He concurrently works with the Culture & Equity Project, and UCLA’s Center X.

Professional Learning Facilitators
Siobhan Clifford, Professional Learning Facilitator
Siobhan joins the Greenfield team after 31 years of teaching experience in the London, Ontario area. She has worked with students from Grades 2-8 as a classroom teacher and with students from Grades JK-8 as a school-based resource teacher. Siobhan was also a board-wide Curriculum Support Teacher focusing on developing resources and providing professional development for junior division teachers in the areas of literacy and numeracy.
In the final years of her teaching career, Siobhan worked as a Special Education classroom teacher at a Provincial Demonstration School, supporting students with severe learning disabilities in the area of reading. This experience highlighted, for Siobhan, the strength of an evidenced based Structured Literacy approach to teaching reading, and the need for all students to be given the opportunity to see themselves as readers.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, like so many other teachers, Siobhan was faced with the challenge of quickly pivoting through a mix of in-class, synchronous and blended learning models for her students. Online, digital edTech platforms provided much needed resources and support for her and her students as they moved from one learning model to another. Siobhan is looking forward to supporting teachers as they introduce research proven programs to their students and confidently deliver data driven instructional responses to promote student success across the curriculum.
Siobhan lives in London with her husband, Chris, who is a high school Administrator, their daughter, Brigid, and their golden-doodle-sheepdog, Puck. She enjoys playing pickleball and golf, reading by the pool, and playing guitar.
Siobhan is excited to be a part of our dynamic team and to continue her lifelong learning journey with Greenfield.
